Avishai Cohen Trio - Barbican - London

To the Barbican to see the Avishai Cohen Trio:

The band were to play the entirety of their "Gently Disturbed" album, ten years after its release.

Dinner at Bonfire

Chicken wings for Amanda and a burger for me:

An always-welcome add-on to the London Jazz Festival concerts are the 'free stages', where bands play short sets in the bar and foyer areas.  It was great to see these youngsters getting a thoroughly-deserved warm welcome and appreciation:

Klimt / Schiele - Drawings from the Albertina Museum, Vienna - Royal Academy / Nik Bärtsch's Ronin - Ronnie Scott's - London

Pre-journey festive drinks in the First Class Waiting Room:

Out and over the road to Hatchards, where early Christmas presents to each other were acquired.

It was raining when we exited so, with no desire to sit in damp clothes all evening, we took a cab over to Seven Dials:

and thence to the London Graphic Centre, where various purchases were made.  Out, and onto Long Acre, where we visited Muji, and then to the New Row branch of Costa for refreshments.  Across to Charing Cross Road and a quick visit to Foyles, and finally on to Ronnie Scott's, where we queued in the rain:

A fantastic evening of Zen-funk.  See here for the official photos.

Afterwards I was lucky enough to catch Nik and get him to autograph their latest CD:

On the late train home:
